for a Father

who, as we were growing up, always found a way to secretly slip us a few extra pesos to indulge those not-so-practical wishes

who delighted in cooking us his special meals prepared with tender, loving care

who loved to make us laugh, sometimes even at his own expense

yes

a Father who supported our dreams even when they meant giving up a lot of his own

who unwaveringly believed in us even when we had almost given up on ourselves

one who was always so kind but knew when he needed to be firm

who loved us even when we gave him more than enough reasons not to

this is for a Father who was our dearest Dad in every sense of the word

that while he practically grew up without his own, he instinctively seemed to know what to do

…. maybe it was just one of those things he was meant to do in his life …

and while he was by no means perfect

he did his best and that was all we could ever ask for

on this Father’s day, our second without

we take pause to remember how lucky we had beenĀ all those years

to have been blessed to have him

we miss you Dad

always

and perhaps

now more than ever
