[In this rainy afternoon on the day before Christmas 2008, I tried searching for “dr fg david” instead of “fredegusto david” and discovered all these hitherto undiscovered blogs, all of which feature these 6 Quotable Quotes which somehow got separated from a longer list of 100+ QQs. Even so, one discerns the individuality of each blogger. One published the list, along with QQs from other U.P. Professors, in toto. One arranged the quotes very nicely and even removed the professors’ names. One published a disclaimer that she didn’t know the professors to whom the quotes were attributed, but she was publishing the list anyway. And another carefully removed the rather gross or tasteless quotes.
One also gets an insight into the personality of the UP professors who are said to have uttered these “quotes”. It will not take a genius to discern that some, or most, of these quotes will not stand the test of time. Probably uttered in exasperation, or to galvanize into wakefulness a drowsy class, some quotes were noted down more for their aptness at a given situation rather than as gems of thought.
Anyway, fg’s QQs may also probably not stand the test of time–or they may. Who knows? Here they are, then, for the 4th time this afternoon.]
“Meanings we find are the meanings we make.”
“The measure of a man is how many doors he has opened to other people, especially to those he doesn’t know.”
“To be born is to die. In between, they grow and multiply like flies. 6.2 billion people in the world. Kadiri, ano?”
“Do not live long enough to be worthless.”
“Domestication of the human male is one of the greatest achievement of the human race.”
“I do not know many. I only know enough to teach my classes.”
