…When I scan my time and circumstance, I can’t but realize that my time to go is nearing. Its end is getting real. The acquaintances and friends I’ve known are mostly gone: Dr. Lagmay, Ver Enriquez, and Rudy Ramos in my department are all gone. Prof. Yabes, Prof. Arcellana, Alex Hufana, Ric Demetillo, S.V. Epistola, Nieves, June Lansang, Pete Daroy, Max Ramos, Ching Dadufalza, Pachot Guevarra in my former department of English are gone. Only I am around, on extended appointment with the U.P., and it’s my last of the five years of extension at that. So, it really looks that my time isn’t going to be long. Thanks to modern medicine and my will to push my life to its limit, I’m still around and seemingly able. But I must start reckoning and preparing for my leave…
