  1. I can only sigh with nostalgia when I see this picture of a lean, young Den and a baby Ef, who looks very much like Megan here. We already had Fevi, but I think she was left at home with the maid–perhaps she just wanted to play. I took this picture–a rarity, because Den wasn’t too keen on having his picture taken. Most of the 72 (!) shots were of me and Ef, and, as is typical of Den, he wouldn’t stop until all the shots were taken. We started at home, then all around the campus’ scenic spots, then ended up at home, exhausted.

Btw, we had 72 shots because Den would usually buy a 36-exp/ film. But because our camera, a Canon, would split each shot into 2 panels, we ended up with 72.

I remember–and miss–this camera. It was our first major purchase, ahead even of the ref, and I think the stove. My reasoning was, Time flies so quickly, we’d better catch it on the wing. :) So Den’s honorarium at UP Manila, then known as the Extension Division, all went to this camera. We didn’t have new clothes or a lot of extras, but we were happy posing until we dropped. :)

  2. For some, a camera might seem a frivolity to be prioritized over a ref (?) or a stove (!). But time has proven that Mai’s and Dad’s decisions turned out to be the best for the family. As with this camera.
