A rainy Friday the 13th. Just like Sir F.G. to make quite an exit.
He will be dearly missed.
***
Some of the professor’s words, collected during the past month:
“When others deliberate to take the first step, you just take it.”
“Beauty is symmetry in complexity.”
“The measure of a man is how many doors he has opened to other people, especially to those he doesn’t know.”
“The aim of human life is integrity.”
“Success is defined by its context.”
“Genius is obsessive. Laziness is contrary to genius. Kung tinatamad ka, hindi mo kaya. Rationalization lang ‘yon.”
“There is mystery and beauty in the unknown.”
“My last love is Psychology. I was raped by Psychology.”
“When the inertia against acting is strong, the will must also be that strong.”
“I still pursue my north star.”
“Live with a high mean and low standard deviation.”
“If you did not produce something, you have no right to destroy it.”
“Our greatest enemy now is ourselves.” (On the human species)
“Allow the variable to show its effects by introducing it in different amounts.”
“Lead them according to what they want to become.”
“You read behind words. You think.”
“There is nothing absolute. The only constant thing is the speed of light.”
“To be born is to die. In between they grow and multiply like flies. 6.2 billion people in the world. Kadiri, ano?”
“Why not life? Why call it soul? Call a spade a spade.”
“Earth is the only heaven we can know.”
***
Perhaps he’d say that Earth was heaven enough.

Saka mo lang maiintindihan kapag naging prof mo na siya, di ba. We’ll miss sir F.G… hay…

“Beauty fades but ugliness does not.” -> hahaha.
Meron pa siya saming: “You don’t fall in love..you RISE in love.” Haha. I think sa last lecture or 2nd to the last yon. Oh well.
Grabe, kung tutuusin 1 month ko lang siya naging prof. |

phan 201 used to be such a happy room for me. i never did mind if sir david dismissed us until 8pm. it also never crossed my mind that the color of the room was a “depressing color”, as mam ortega observed.
however, now i feel a certain sadness to phan 201. i can’t quite explain why–but this picture somewhat captures that feeling. |

More than anything, Sir David treated his students like family.

I took the liberty of posting some of your exceptional photographs and cited your web address in my tribute to FG David. I hope it would be ok with you (http://michaelxiaochua.multiply.com/photos/album/207).
